Curatorial Note
Promotional/commemorative souvenir from the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. The characteristics of the three women (left to right) on the button pin reflect the geographical areas of the "Pacific," "Alaska," and "Yukon." The "Pacific" theme was added to emphasize trans-Pacific trade with Asia. The initial inspiration for the fair came from a group of Alaskan gold rush pioneers in 1905.
