Online Description

Features a story inside the front cover by Claire Wallace (Broadcaster of Canada's radio feature "They Tell Me') about the song's origins. Pvt. McKnight (Winnipeg Grenadiers), his twin brother and another brother were captured by the Japanese in Hong Kong in 1941. They wrote and performed this song in captivity, and their rendition of this song was broadcast from Tokyo in 1943. The brothers were musicians before the war and had been allowed to bring their instruments (clarinet, saxophone, trumpet) into the prison camp. The song was played across Canada on CBC Radio as part of a wartime music program in 1944.
