"Japan (Capital: Tokyo) That Japanese Empire consists of a number of islands off the East coast of Asia and the peninsula of Korea on the mainland. This Empire is three times the size of Great Britain. For centuries the Japanese have produced beautiful arts and crafts, but for many years past this Eastern nation has been adopting ways of the West, and now it is one of the Great Powers and an important manufacturing country. Many of the toys and fancy articles we buy come from Japan. There is still a great deal of farming. Japan is a permanent member of the Council of the League of Nations. She is also one of the countries which administers some territory for the League of Nations."
