Summary
Portrays the life of a small boy, Yuji, living at home with his family in the mountains of Japan. Yuji gathers firewood, hangs persimmons to dry, and helps his father cut timber. When he travels to the local mill in a nearby village and sees logs sawed and processes for making pianos, he want to become a musician.
